Why Umnotho Housing Exists
Umnotho Village was founded on a simple belief: every family deserves a decent, affordable home.
It began with twelve families from the informal settlements of Muldersdrift who were tired of living in cramped shacks, facing daily struggles with poor sanitation and unsafe conditions. In 2011, each family contributed R150 per month toward buying land.
By 2015, 650 families had saved R4.5 million, enabling the purchase of 28 hectares of land. Today, Umnotho has grown to 60 hectares, a testament to what a united community can achieve.
