OUR VISION
To see a self-sustainable community of 10 000 households, with our own land, our own houses, our own bank, and our own businesses.
Umnotho For Empowerment is a Non Profit Organisation (NPO: 070-858) registered with the South African Department of Social Development. Umnotho is also registered with the South African Revenue Services (SARS) as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO: 930037146).
Umnotho means Wealth and Economy. We believe communities can achieve empowerment by working together to build their own wealth. From 2009 Umnotho mobilised low-income households in Muldersdrift to develop their community.
OUR MISSION
To mobilise low-income households into a united community that will pull their resources together to acquire land for housing and business opportunities, with the objective to achieve sustainable livelihoods.
Umnotho was founded by Leslie Gama, a passionate community worker driven by the desire to see development in the poor communities of Muldersdrift.
